We identify people to work with teenagers
/ young adults with:
Acquired
Additional Needs. ABI, TBI, spinal
injury. For teenagers or young adults who
require PA's, buddies, tutors and communicators
to aid their rehabilitation.
Specific
Conditions. For young teenagers or young adults
with specific conditions such as cerebral
palsy, Down's syndrome, Autistic Spectrum
Disorders etc. who require ongoing support
and care.
Complex
Medical Needs. For teenagers or young
adults who have more medically based needs.
Palliative care for individuals who do
not need 24 hour around the clock nursing.
Special
Educational Needs. For teenagers or young
adults who require assistance with their
ongoing learning and education, such as
individuals following home-based programmes.
Education may be more academic and curriculum
based or more towards learning life, social
and / or communication skills.
Parenting
Skills / Assistance. For teenagers or young
adults who have a learning disability
themselves and require parenting / life
skills or have physical disabilities and
need practical assistance to enable them
to parent.
Emotional
/ Psychological. For teenagers or young
adults with conditions such an eating
disorder, general anxiety disorder, mental
health issues or those who have been through
a traumatic episode and will benefit from
a buddy / support / tutor.
The

We are very particular about who we take
on to work with our families and clients.
Many applicants are qualified in different
areas; however we do not insist that applicants
have specific qualifications. From our
experience, what are crucial aptitudes
are the right attitude, understanding
and experience. What applicants must demonstrate
is the desire to improve the lives of
our clients and their families.
The
individuals we place have experience including;
Communication
skills: Makaton, PEC's, BSL, Pagent
Gorman, Switching, Augmentative Communication
devices etc.
Behaviour
Management: Including ABA, Sonrise,
Floortime and similar behaviour management
programmes. Challenging / Inappropriate
behaviour management.
Medically
based: Tube feeding, suctioning, oxygen
administration, epilepsy/seizure monitoring,
tracheotomy maintenance, medication drawing
up and administration etc.
Personal
Care: Bowel care, catheter maintenance,
mouth care, foot care
Educational
Skills: Teaching: academic/curriculum
based / IEP's, social and personal skills,
social and life skills, tutoring,
Intervenor (deaf/blind facilitator), etc.
Physical
Skills: Moving & Handling, position
monitoring and changing, seating / equipment
use etc.
